Curio Coffee Roaster & Cafe @ Jalan Ipoh

The term "hidden gem" is probably way overused at this point, but this quaint and tiny lil cafe would probably fit well under that term. Tucked away in a hidden corner lot that's only accessible via one route (a narrow spiral staircase), you'd be forgiven for missing it entirely. But, if you do find it and I sincerely hope you do, you'll be welcomed by the warm wafting scents of freshly brewed coffee and the happy quiet chatter of patrons inside. We ordered a mango yuzu cheesecake and the classic lemon loaf cake, both of which were absolute delights in their own right! To make everything way better, the waitstaff were not only friendly and knowledgeable, but they were also willing to entertain our weird request for a much stronger brew that would wake us up from our work stupor. Would definitely come back for another cuppa and cake; you should pay a visit too ;)

Cute little cafe with amazing coffee (according to friend). Very well hidden had to climb dangerous spiral staircase to reach this place. I don’t drink coffee personally! But coffee connoisseur friend praised it and lauded big grinder at the back of shop. I personally had the matcha latte and it tasted like made with love A little crowded when we came but the service staff were so friendly in helping us find a table.

The coffee is really good, the flavor of the bean is being extracted out strongly, the waffle also good quality. But only thing is slightly pricey.

First discovered this spot back in the covid days — the coffee was solid and the owners super friendly. Fast forward a few years, happy to see nothing’s changed. Coffee’s still great, service still warm, vibes still on point. This little nook really made me see Jln Ipoh in a new light. To me, a good neighbourhood always comes with a good café. And a good café? Well executed coffee, chill atmosphere, and books/magazine to flip through while you sip. Not some viral sensation with IG photo spot, just a nice place to slow down and catch a breath.

We ordered two cups of dirty latte, both different beans and it was sooo good. I can't remember the name but one tasted soo buttery and creamy its almost as if you're drinking a piece of dessert? If you get what I mean. Recommend this bean to anyone coming. Also, we came in late, almost during their closing time but they still greeted us cheerfully. Only when we noticed that they start cleaning up that we noticed it was almost closing time. And we left as well. Great coffee experience, second time coming here and will drop by if around the area.

Since I was introduced to this cafe, I find myself coming back every single time I visit KL. Honestly extraordinary coffee, lovingly roasted and served up by the friendliest crew who welcome you like old friends each time. Blink and you’d miss it. You can only go up via the spiral staircase, and there not a whole lot of tables. Don’t expect bunch either. Just an outstanding set of carefully curated pastries and sweets, and some of the best and most unique coffee that KL can offer. If you want a slice of just a quaint spot in the bustle of KL, be sure to swing by.

We’ve been to all three Curio locations and it’s always a good experience. We’ve been to many cafes in KL And Curio makes the best coffee by far! Our Favorite is MdmD. Their baristas are exceptional. They’re friendly, knowledgeable, and put great care into ensuring each shot of espresso is perfect. We also love the atmosphere. It’s calm, clean and each location is unique and beautifully decorated.

The coffee was incredible. They really have perfected their craft. They roast their own beans. The staff is so friendly and so knowledgeable. They presented me with 3 different cups that somehow morphed the flavour of the same brew. It might as well have been witchcraft. Masterclass!!
